Sensible Data Recovery From Laptop

A laptop hard disk contains a lot of data. It contains many of our important files and software that we need for our everyday life. It may be for business or for personal use, but a laptop is a necessity nowadays. So if a laptop’s hard disk crashes or malfunctions, it may cause a devastating effect on us as all our important data may be lost. In these situations we should apply data recovery from laptop. Proper care can be taken to avoid the problem but still one has to face this condition one day or the other.

The first thing to keep in mind is to remove the power supply to the laptop immediately as if power is supplied when the hard disk is malfunctioning then it may further damage the disk. Once the power supply is stopped, the laptop must be switched off so that we may look further into the problem. The primary step to check the problem is to let the laptop hard disk cool down. This step is easy; just remove the back panel in which the hard disk is stored. The process of cooling of the disk can be made faster by removing the hard disk from the laptop and placing it under a fan. The instructions for proper removal of hard disk are mentioned on the back panel of every laptop. Often the user may also require unscrewing a screw to remove the hard disk. This unscrewing should be done with care.

When the laptop’s hard disk cools down it must be handled with care as improper handling may further damage the already damaged disk. Now search the surface of the disk for any scratches or dust, dirt particles. Many of the problems in hard disks are caused by particles on it. Blow compressed air or normal air over the surface of the disk so that any dirt or dust particles will get blown away. Next steps:

1. Now check the hardware of the disk and see whether it works correctly, several times the disk reader arm or the platters of the disk may be faulty, in such cases the data of the disk will not be lost.
2. If any of the hardware problems exist then a specially trained engineer must be contacted about the problem. Such hardware problems can be noticed by hearing the sounds coming from the hard disk.
3. If the hard disk does not make any sound, the platters may be faulty;  if the hard disk makes a grunting noise then the reader arm may be stuck.

Several times there is no hardware problem; the problem is at logical level or more commonly known as software level. A hard disk is divided into several sectors; if a sector gets damaged then it may crash the whole of the disk. Such problems can be overcome by installing data recover software. If the problem still persists then data recovery from laptop is possible by making it a slave to another hard disk. By doing this the data inside the disk can be accessed, but the disk fails to run an operating system. But the precious data is not lost and can be back upped to another disk and kept safe.
